Would you like to meet 19 other youngsters from the Baltic Sea region to exchange experiences and interests, have fun together and even get to know Kiel Week, the biggest sailing and cultural event in Northern Europe all at the same time? If so, then the Baltic Sea Youth Forum, co-organized by the State Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein, the Regional Youth Council of Schleswig-Holstein and the Europa-Union Schleswig-Holstein, is just the thing for you. It’s all about debating issues that concern all of you with other young people from the region and then engaging in a lively exchange and discussion with politicians. While you’re doing that, you’ll experience Kiel at its best: you’ll get to see it from the water on board of a traditional tall ship because that’s where one of the joint workshops will be held. The program on land also promises to deliver fun and variety. We’ll be going to Flensburg and Sonderborg to visit the German-Danish border region where it’s all about overcoming borders on the way towards an integrated Europe. The opportunity to visit Kiel Week in the evenings is the finishing touch.
The main topic of the youth forum will be “Learning from and with each other in Europe”. That means you will discuss Europe as a topic in the educational system from school to university, in extracurricular activities like participation projects or your personal everyday life. Also you will find out how mobility and cross-border co-operations improve the region and foster a common picture of Europe.
